Do I Need To Balance My Dragbike Tires?
All wheels need to be balanced no matter what their use. Street or Strip. DOT or Slick.
An out-of-balance tire and wheel will typically create a vibration or shake that becomes progressively worse as speed increases. The speed at which the vibration first becomes apparent will vary depending on the size and weight of the tire and wheel, the weight of the motorcycle, the sensitivity of the suspension, and the amount of imbalance. The vibration or shake usually starts in at 40 to 50 mph and increases in intensity as the speed increases.
This vibration can cause traction issues and can reduce acceleration and speed. We've seen up to .10 second lower ET on a top gas dragbike with a 10" rear tire.
