Product Description
The major weak point in the KLR is the idleshaft lever & spring, or "DOO-HICKEY". The 87-07 models often suffer from broken levers, or broken springs. Even the improved 08+ model has a loose fitting lever and a spring that is too long. Schnitz Racing recommends the Doo-Hickey kit for their 685 Piston Kit and 705 Piston Kit.
This kit is the cure. Genuine Eagle Manufacturing parts. Beware of the copies, get the real thing.

87-07 KLR Torque Spec 130 ft/lb
08-20 KLR Torque Spec 144 ft/lb
End play must be checked at 110 ft/lb of torque. If you still have end play, proceed to recommended torque for your year.

Even thou my doohickey was not broken/cracked I still changed it as the kidney slot was damaged from the taper on the screw. Bike has 40K miles on it & is 25 years old. Doohickey very nicely made as well.
