RSR Drag Racing School 2 Day Course

  • Image 1

Our goal with this class is to create knowledgeable, skilled and focused racers who fully understand all aspects of the sport and to give them the necessary tools and guidance needed to achieve a successful and safe racing career.

The RSR Drag School is centered on the racer. We begin with the fundamentals and the basics of the sport and move on to physical skills, mental focus and strategies proven successful. We touch on bike prep and creating a routine to ensure track readiness. Open discussions with students to answer each and every question will help to further the confidence needed to become skilled and reduce frustrations when under the pressure and excitement of motorcycle drag racing.

Our complete 2 Day Drag School features a full day of classroom time at Schnitz Racing in Decatur, Indiana to cover every aspect of motorcycle drag racing including:

  • Track - How the timing system works
  • Reaction Time - How to improve and be consistent
  • How we learn - Non of us are born knowing how to race
  • Visualization - How to win before leaving the house
  • Weather - This is an outdoor sport
  • Bike Prep - Can't win if it won't start
The second day will be spent at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana or Muncie Dragway in Albany, Indiana putting this information to the test to work through those stubborn bad habits and help improve new ones.
We've scheduled our Drag Racing School with the 2017 NHDRO Schedule so you can stay and continue to race during the weekend.  What a great way to show off those new skills!
Allow Ryan Schnitz's years of experience and success guide you to a more professional racing career.
*You can hold a spot for $250 and pay the balance prior to the class.

Do you provide a motorcycle?  No.  We are not selling you a "racing experience".  We want to retrain your bad habits and allow you to gain new skills on YOUR motorcycle.  We feel that providing a school bike would not allow you to gain the confidence you need when you travel back to your local track.
Do you offer a track course only?  Yes, but only if you have completed our classroom portion first.  You wouldn't want to learn how to fly without knowing how to taxi and land the plane.  This is also very true for drag racing.  It's the details and mental preparation that really separate the racers from the champions.
What safety equipment do I need? Full Leathers, enclosed helmet, gloves and boots are required.  You will also need a Tether Kill Switch installed on the motorcycle.
What needs to be done to my motorcycle for track use? Preparing your motorcycle for the drag strip is minimal.  The only safety requirements are a chain guard, 2" of ground clearance with you on the motorcycle and a tether kill switch.  These are manitory and you will not be able to make a pass without these.
How many passes will I get? This varies with every student, motorcycle, and class. We are concerned more with quality of passes than quantity. Doing something correctly a few times is much more valuable than doing it incorrectly over and over. Many of our students get 8-10 passes throughout the day.
How is a rain out handled? We consider 4 hours of open and available track time to be a complete day of track training. If we have excessive down time due to weather or other track conditions that prevents us from having a full 4 hours of track time, we will invite you back to another track day at a future class.
Do you have a question? Send us a message from our Contact Page and we'll answer as quickly as possible.

  1. Improved 5 Star Review

Posted by on 10th Jan 2017

If you are thinking about signing up and have not yet done it you should. I have improved so much from participating in Ryan's school. There are so many little things you learn that is invaluable. Worth every penny. I won my first event after returning. I also placed in the top of my next national event.

  2. Great class 5 Star Review

Posted by on 7th Mar 2014

I really enjoyed the class, the in class knowledge is as valuable as the track time, after taking the class my 60 foot times were greatly improved and my consistency has improved as well. I would recommend this class to anyone from the very experienced rider to the person going down the track for the first time.

  3. Winning 5 Star Review

Posted by on 22nd Jan 2014

After going to the RSR Drag School this past year, I can now say that I MAKE MONEY Racing now. I've been to the final round in every event I've competed in. I no longer second guess myself and have a proven routine that makes me more consistant and confident.

  4. Thanks so much! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 8th Oct 2013

Just wanted to say thanks very much for your time this week. The RSR Drag Racing School gave me lots of new information and helped me progress greatly. It was good to be able to take what we learned on the classroom day and apply it at the track the next day. Your feedback at the track, including reviewing the video, was extremely helpful. Also, your calm "just do it" approach to having me learn to do a burnout put me at ease and it worked! Just learning the burnout put me way ahead of where I was. As a result of your help, we dropped
0.6 seconds off my E/T in one day.

  5. Awesome 5 Star Review

Posted by on 23rd May 2013

I did Ryan's first class and it was awesome. This is a great way to learn the in's and out's of drag racing if your a novice or a great way to get your overall program tighter if you are an experienced rider. He is a GREAT teacher and a great guy!

  6. More Consistant 5 Star Review

Posted by on 30th Nov 2012

I would make a solid pass before and then go out and wheelie the next time so there was no consistency. I am able to now keep things within a few hundredths and still be aggressive.

What I find a bit ironic is that although I gained from the track portion, I learned quite a bit in the classroom. I went down there thinking that because I have been racing bikes for a long time I did not have much to learn: I was wrong!

  7. Worth Every Penny 5 Star Review

Posted by on 30th Nov 2012

It was worth every penny. You did a great job and really prepared and had your stuff organized. Great job Ryan

  8. Very Professional and Informative 5 Star Review

Posted by on 30th Nov 2012

I would like to commend you and the Schnitz Racing Staff for providing a very professional and informative drag racing school on 07/12/12-07/13/12. The information I gained from RSR School is priceless and will be immensely useful when applying the many techniques learned at your school. Your one on one critiques after each pass during track day were extremely beneficial and kept me focused on my “Target!” I appreciate your professionalism and individual effort to assist your fellow drag racers to become better at our sport. RSR’s contribution to Motorcycle Drag Racing is invaluable and I am glad that I attended your school. The benefits and experiences I took away from the school are everlasting. I will highly recommend the RSR Drag Racing School to my drag racing friends. Thanks again, All the best.
